Welcome Back!
It is Labor Day weekend and that means classes are just around the corner. As we make our way back from summer vacations and internships, there is always a certain level of anxiety about the beginning of a new school year. I remember feeling the same way exactly one year ago — only back then there were many more unknowns — and yet somehow I found my way and navigated through the first year of the Masters programme. The coming year presents new challenges and hopes — the challenge to complete a thesis or a capstone and the challenge of finding a career path, coupled with the hopes of taking in much more that the MSGA program has to offer while we are still students here.
At the same time, I sense that the CGA community has a fervent wish to contribute to academia, to social networking, to the school, and to each others’ success. In the coming year, there will be moments when the best of us will be swamped with midterms, papers and readings — but I invite you, in the busiest of times, to take a step back and to reflect on what is most meaningful to you. Some of us will come across contemporary issues in our coursework or in the news that shake us to the core; we can scarcely stop ourselves from thinking about or voicing our opinions on them. Others like to carefully weigh the issue from various perspectives, and then slowly come to their own conclusions. Whichever way you tend to critically analyse global affairs — we invite you to contribute. The PGI blog is a forum where a myriad of opinions come together and form a kaleidoscope of perspectives that reflect the diverse student body of the CGA community. There is much latitude in terms of the topic that you can choose or the style in which you discuss it — blogs can be written in a scholarly, academic style, or a lighter, conversational tone — after all, it is a blog!
On behalf of the PGI editorial team I would like to extend a warm welcome to new and current students — good luck with the Fall semester and we’ll see you around Woolworth!
